Added a vector wheel - in case I want to switch my phase angle meter to this. Like the red would be voltage amplitude and would be at the zero degree reference and the current angle and amplitude would be in white.

All kinds of graphs are possible!

As Abe Lincoln once said – "When in doubt use two heat sinks".

Got em’ doubled up on the 3.3 V regulator. My MOD5270 (model RR) board will also carry the MOD54415 – at least some of the features. This one does draw more current and when I hang the display on there it could get up to 600 ma at full backlight. According to the IR thermometer the heat sink is running 99 deg F with the room at 75 and just the processor, the port expander, and one RS-232 module. I am going to do another board but I want to see if I can run the display and port expander on the same I2C. Since the display seems to set the ACK bit for any address it might be a problem.

Happy to say that it all works together and the double heat sink is at 112F with ambient = 78F. That is OK.

Slowly working on a circuit board for tne MOD54415. It will have the AD7606, port expander, instrument amplifiers, ULN2803a relay driver chip, the local display and so on. Want it to be able to do just about anything but it is difficult to think of IoT applications. I have the modelRR and the radiation instrument - but the big question is - what else? What data is worth having?

I was thinking of putting platforms with load cells in the fridge and having it text me when I am low on milk. But then my wife might feel it was taking over her functions. What to do?

Everything but the kitchen sink! Just about finished with my very slow work on the MOD54415 carrier board. It has 3 x AD620 instrument amplifiers, one with relay switchable gain. It has one AD626 high side shunt amplifier (for like the track current on your model RR), the 16 bit port expander, 8 channel relay driver - and I2C interface to just about anything including a display. One picture shows the space and provision for mounting a 16 channel 12 bit PWM module over one of the AD620 positions. It has 8 channels of 16 bit A/D, 8 channels of 12 bit A/D (on the processor), and the two processor DAC channels. It is set up to let the processor run one servo, it has a connector for that, if you don't want the servo module. It has a space for one RS-232 module. I am waiting for color ink so I can print it with both layers, check it, and draw in the components. Didn't want to spend $39.95 for ink at WalMart so I ordered a refil for $10 on Ebay.

I am slow because I am trying to figure out what to do with it!

While I am waiting for printer ink I did some work on picture presentation on the display, the critical porn skin tone test. It loses a little in the translation from 24 bit windows to 16 bit and it is upside down and mirrored - but not bad considering the low cost of the display. Have to test various shades of pink.

Much improved skin rendition. Got rid of the nasty ridges in the 24 to 16 convert. Used a different program for the conversion.

Got ink in the mail! Saved $20 over Walmart and the red actually seems brighter on the Ebay $9.99 refill cartridge. Working on the MOD54415 carrier board that will do it all! Will probably send it to China on Tuesday because I first have to check it all about 20 times. I might see if I can find a box to hold it and cut a hole for the display - with holes in back to lead out wires to control the world. Well maybe not the world but your model railroad, your sprinkler system, and a bunch of shit around the house.

While I am waiting for the circuit board and AD converter to get here from China I did a phase angle meter display function. Video above shows it stepping around from 0 to 360. Will make a phase angle meter just to exercise and verify operation of the AD7606. Still thinking of what might possibly be a good application for this.

I have the best heat sink !

http://www.ebay.com/itm/uxcell-10-Pcs-2 ... 2579965758?

It consists of one of the above bolted to the 5V to 3.3V regulator. Alone this runs at 125F with the display at full backlight and an ambient temperature of 80F. And this is fine under normal indoor conditions and under just about any conditions without the display.

I add two of these as they are a press fit as shown in the picture:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/10-Aavid-Therma ... SwT5tWMRBl

And that keeps it to about 110 - and this only needed if you have it outside in Phoenix. If it is something portable and vibrates I would use a DC to DC converter because all that overhanging weight coupled with vibration could eventually break the regulator connection. But it works great for a shelf item.
