Unable to Flash original factory app (or any other) w/MTTTY
Unable to Flash original factory app (or any other) w/MTTTY
Everything was going along just great until I somehow ended up in a crashing state. I have tried loading my app, my own build of the Demo app and even the original factory app S19 and am getting s record address errors each time.
Here's the trap I'm getting:
Trap occured
Vector=Access Error FMT =01 SR =2400 FS =04
Faulted PC = 00000000
D0:00000018 00000000 0000000C 0000004A 00000001 00000040 200006FD 00000052

Waiting 2sec to start 'A' to abort
I try feeding it the original app from: C:\nburn\MOD5270\original\Mod5270FactoryDemo_APP.s19
nb>flaBegin Down load now.... (Any char but S to stop )

S Record End detected
S Recs start at the wrong address

nb>
The results are that it rejects it.
I have also tried flashing the Mod5270FactoryDemo_APP.s19 with the same results. I even tried running Compcode myself on the Factory Demo.s19 file and still got the same results.
I'm using the Mod5270 board here that I just recently got.
Thanks.

Re: Unable to Flash original factory app (or any other) w/MT
Found my own answer.
This was the secret: http://syncor.blogspot.com/2009/11/netb ... s-bad.html
There was nothing wrong with the s19 files it was that after the trap and reset the NB was still in a very bad state and causing the FLA process to fail in a very non-intuitive way.

Re: Unable to Flash original factory app (or any other) w/MT
Well I'm glad one of my blog posts helped someone. I try and remember to credit the source of my solutions but in this case I forgot. I can't be positive but I think it was Forrest that pointed out to me that if you are in trap/reboot cycle you should power off/on and then SHIFT-A in before the first trap to download a new version.
Re: Unable to Flash original factory app (or any other) w/MT
Tod, thanks for that blog post info! The really should put that info in their docs as I had read through everything on how to recover they had posted and wasn't until I found your post that I was able to recover!
Re: Unable to Flash original factory app (or any other) w/MT
I think Tod's comments and docs are fantastic. But I also see this when looking at the netburner faq on the wiki page. Cycle power is the 3rd item:
How do I download a new application via MTTTY
Procedure:
Attach the supplied serial cable (or the supplied NULL Modem cable for the SB72EX and CB34EX) from the serial port on your NetBurner device to the serial port on your host computer.
Run MTTTY and connect to the board.
Cycle power (i.e. remove and reapply power) to your NetBurner device. You will see a "Waiting 2sec to start 'A' to abort" message in the MTTTY window.
//........ rest of procedure
Here is a link:

There is also a link at the end of this procedure to a pdf with even more detail.

That page appears to be hacked. Whenever I go to it all I get is this: "How to buy phentermine without prescription"

Re: Unable to Flash original factory app (or any other) w/MT
Try again (hit refresh) it looks like Forrest fixed it. When I'm thinking clearly I do try to update the FAQ when I think it's appropriate. I added step 3 about a month after I wrote the blog entry (according to the history).
Regarding the overall issue of finding up to date information. The manuals should probably add that the process is
1. Read the manuals.
2. Read the FAQs.
3. Get familiar with the Wiki
It would be nice if the docs were constantly up to date but I prefer to see NB's efforts going into other areas. Since I see many benefits from following the above three steps, it shouldn't be considered too onerous.

Re: Unable to Flash original factory app (or any other) w/MT
I actually read through all the docs before even starting....not sure how common that is
The FAQ page is still showing the hacked page for me. Tried doing a refresh and checked on another computer that I hadn't used on that site too.
The wiki is a bit awkward to find for me I guess. It would make sense for it to be linked from the Forum main page. I've only found references to the Wiki from forum posting so far...

Re: Unable to Flash original factory app (or any other) w/MT
Pretty unusual. I read a lot but I know I haven't read all of it.
Under the NetBurner Software forum is a announcement topic for important links. The wiki link is there as well. Once I type it manually into a browser when I type "wiki" it's the first thing that shows up, but then I hang out here way too much.
I'm stumped as to why you are seeing a hacked page. I didn't pay enough attention to dates. The last edit was July 20, 2011. so it should be good. Do you see any good page for the wiki? For example does the home page look good? If you ping wiki.embeddedethernet.com do you see the IP of 69.163.177.35?

Re: Unable to Flash original factory app (or any other) w/MT
I figured I would post this here instead of starting a new topic. I am getting traps on my 5270 and I am trying to follow the procedure for flashing a new app onto the board. However, I will get to the step to cycle the power, Receive the "'A' to abort." message and attempt to press Shift+A but it doesn't register in the MTTTY window. The board just continues its process and starts getting traps. Is there something seriously wrong here or am I just making a noob mistake?
